ODM process

1

Customer Idea

Share use case, channel, target retail or cost ceiling, expected volume, and any packaging or certification must-haves.

2

Product Definition

Lock function, stages, abrasive direction (carbide / diamond / ceramic / CBN as fit), size band, and OEM-label vs private-mold path.

3

Industrial Design

Form, grip, and brand-fit directions that stay moldable and cost-aware.

4

Mechanical Design

CAD / UG/NX structural design, engineering drawings, and moldability checks with the Yangjiang supply chain.

5

Prototype

Functional samples (often white box). Photo or short cut-test video when useful. Existing platforms are faster than clean-sheet molds.

6

Testing

Basic functional and durability checks agreed in the brief. Named lab tests only when you require them — scoped and quoted separately.

7

Tooling

New molds quoted separately; ownership terms agreed in writing before steel is cut.

8

Packaging

White-box baseline; custom art, inserts, and retail packs priced separately.

9

Mass Production

Deposit → production → inspection → shipment. Typical planning lead time ~45 days after deposit (varies by volume and complexity).

Design tools we use

CAD · UG / NX · 3D design · Engineering drawings · Rapid prototyping

Yangjiang supply chain we coordinate

Plastics · Hardware · Molds · Abrasives · Packaging · Knife-related accessories

Platforms vs clean-sheet

Faster starts from existing platforms (MD2602 outdoor/EDC folding; MD2603 / MD2604 / MD2608 kitchen pull-through; MD2601 arch). Clean-sheet designs when volume and retail justify mold investment.

What we need early: target market and channel; target retail or landed-cost ceiling; expected annual volume and first PO size; OEM logo-on-existing vs ODM / private mold; preferred payment and any certification must-haves.
